On Saturday, my uncle Dave, my dad's only brother, was killed in a National Park in southern CA. He was 52 years old, but he was in better shape than most 22 year olds I know! He grew up as a missionary kid in South America, went to BBC in PA, was a missionary in Chile, was a big-wig with USAir in VA, and most recently was the director of WC operations for Fed-Ex in CA. He and his wife never had any children, but were one of those couples that were best friends and had a blast together. He was the funny guy of the family, and was the one that made sure he got on the mic at mine and my brother's weddings to talk about sex, just for the shock value of it all.

Pray with me for peace and comfort for my aunt... they are still not totally sure what happened, but it appears he fell while hiking. Pray with me that there was no foul-play involved, and that he died doing what he loved. Pray with me that the people who attend his funeral would hear a clear, consise gospel message, and could leave there as sure of their own eternity as my uncle was. He was one of the most fun-loving people I have ever known, and he will be missed greatly!
